Tiramisu is loved by many people, ESPECIALLY my son! He’s loves it so much that, if we go out to a restaurant that just happens to have it on the menu, no matter how full he might be, he orders it! So needless to say, I’m curious to know how he feels about my latest find.
It’s one of my first choices when ever I eat out, but I have never tried making it myself. The other day while searching for desserts, I found this recipe for an easy Tiramisu that I think is just wonderful. Thing is, though, that it’s not your average Tiramisu. There are some key differences.
First of all, instead of espresso, you use Dunkin’ Donuts coffee in it, which is a favorite of mine, then you have mascarpone (an Italian cream cheese), rum extract, whip cream, bittersweet chocolate, grated, and other ingredients that make one amazing dessert. Also, this is served in a glass instead of on a plate like a slice of cake.
If you’ve never made Tiramisu then I think this is the perfect recipe to start with, I guarantee you, you will love it.It might not be a substitute for the real thing, but once you see how simple its is to throw together, you wont mind so much.
Here’s what you need:
For the base:
24 lady fingers
½ cup prepared Dunkin’ Donuts® Coffee
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon rum extract
For the cream filling:
1½ cups mascarpone
1½ cups prepared whipped cream
⅓ cup sugar
2 tablespoons chilled prepared Dunkin’ Donuts® Coffee
For the topping:
1 cup prepared whipped cream
Cocoa powder, for dusting
Milk or bittersweet chocolate, grated
