I found this recipe for a really great apple pie dessert that is actually baked in mini mason jars and they are so adorable and tasty, I just HAD to share it! I’ve never used mason jars to bake with so I did have to go out and find some real mason jars that I could use, but it wasn’t that difficult.
These apple pies are just the perfect dessert for your next get together. I used them for a dinner party and everyone was so impressed at how they looked and tasted that they assumed I either spent forever on them, or bought them in a store. Honestly, they really are not difficult at all!
The ingredients are ones you probably buy all the time, though it does ask for Turbinado sugar, and if you don’t know, that is basically just a raw sugar. You can find this sugar in any store. If you don’t have any mason jars, go out and find some so you can give these a try. It’s a fun recipe and they are so cute!
Here’s what you need:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 Honeycrisp apples, peeled and chopped (or other baking apple, such as Granny Smith or McIntosh)
½ cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
½ teaspoon ginger
½ teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 packages store-bought pie dough (4 circles total)
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1½ teaspoons turbinado sugar
