This post is a little different than most of the others on my blog. I’m more used to posting recipes for foods I’ve either had personally or read about online, and felt the need to share with all of you how to make them. A recipe here isn’t exactly needed. Anyone could do this and it requires little to no effort or planning.
I was recently introduced to Little Vincent’s by a friend. It’s a little bit of a drive for me, but the way my friend raved about it, I felt it was worth the trip. And BOY was it! Little Vincent’s is famous for one thing above all: Cold Cheese Pizza! There’s nothing to it really. Why is this SO good? What makes this so special? I don’t know, but I can tell you it’s amazing! Here is a quote from Serious Eats:
It’s a slice that’s not much different from the basic oven-cooked plain that Little V’s pumps out regularly, with one key difference: the mountain of cold, shredded mozzarella that coats the slice. The newly added cheese melts immediately where it makes contact with the hot, browned mozzarella beneath. But the pile is high, and as a result, there’s a contingent of cold cheese that refuses to melt. What you get is a pizza with fresh new layers of tangy cheese both hot and cold
Now there’s no need to come all the way to Long Island to try this out! Like I said, ANYONE can do this. So if you have a favorite pizzeria in your town, order a slice and head to the supermarket to find the cheese of your choice and try it out for yourself! I’m not even lying when I say this is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had, and being from New York, that should say A LOT!
Serious Eats did a fantastic article (by Josh Wigler) on this pizza which you really should check out by clicking here. I hope you give this a try. You WON’T be sorry. Enjoy!
