I think steak is a lot harder to cook differently than any other meat so I’m always searching for interesting, but simple new ways to serve it. I found and tried this recipe for Grilled Steak and Fresh Mozzarella Flatbread a while back that I really think you need to try!
My daughter and I both love top sirloin and fresh mozzarella is always a pleaser. When I first saw this recipe, the picture of the finished product made me stop and investigate more. It looked so fresh and so delicious I knew it was my next meal.
It’s a very simple recipe to follow and takes no time at all to complete. I haven’t found any Indian flatbread yet (oddly, one of the few things my go-to supermarket doesn’t carry) so I’m not sure if it’s better with that, but the pita bread I use is perfect. Usually I will make up a side of fries or cut up some fresh fruit and we are good to go. Make this a dish next time you get a hankering for steak and let me know what you think.
1 to 1-1/4 pounds beef Top Sirloin Fillets, cut 1 inch thick, tied
1-1/2 teaspoons lemon pepper
2 cups packed fresh baby spinach
1/4 pound fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 1/2 inch pieces (3/4 cup)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
1-1/2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
4 naan breads (Indian flatbread) or pita breads
