I had a craving for chicken and rice the other day so I went searching for a recipe that I’ve never tried and found a really simple recipe for orange chicken. Orange chicken is another of my favorite dishes when I go out for Chinese, but I can’t recall ever making it for myself, so I figured I might as well give it a shot.

I had extra chicken breasts in my freezer so I used them instead of using chicken thighs. This recipe does take a little bit of time and commitment, but the end result will make the effort worth it. The flavor of this chicken came out so tasty it was even better than a take out dish that we order regularly.  You will be hooked on the dish as soon as you taste it! Your family will love this dish and will ask for it in the future, so save this recipe!

Here’s what you need:

Chicken:
2 tablespoons cornstarch
4 egg whites
4 boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
Sauce:
1/2 cup orange juice (I used Simply Orange)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 packed tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
Dash salt
Dash crushed red pepper
1 clove garlic, pressed
A little grated or minced ginger
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Vegetable or peanut oil, for frying
