My son loves peanut butter, give him a spoon and a jar of Jif and he is one happy camper! When I can’t find the jar of peanut butter…I know he has it…and that’s why I have a second jar hidden from his reach.
When I make these bars I will have to make them when he’s not home…because every 10 minutes he’ll be coming to check and open the oven to see if they’re done.
But these bars are easy to make and don’t take very long at all. Even if he does come to “check” them out, they will be out before he even has a chance! Once they’re in the oven they will only take 25 minutes to be done. So check out the ingredients and make them for yourself.
Here’s what you need:
Nonstick cooking spray or shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup cooking oil
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour*
3/4 cup peanut butter-flavored pieces
1/2 cup coarsely chopped peanuts* We used self-rising flour because it saves measuring additional ingredients. If you don’t keep it on hand, substitute a mixture of 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
I would like to thank Midwest Living for these delicious and very tasty bars. My son will love them, and I’m sure you will too! Be sure to head over to Midwest Living now for the full instructions. Enjoy!
